Meet Our Founder

As a New Jersey native, Karen navigated her early education within its bustling public schools. Her passion for educational equity was ignited by a transformative opportunity to attend The Peddie School, a prestigious boarding school that opened new horizons for her. This experience was a springboard to an acceptance to Princeton University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a certificate in African-American studies.

After college, Karen spent four years as a Program Director for a non-profit, dedicating herself to bridging the gap for students transitioning from urban public schools to private educational settings—settings like those that profoundly shaped her own academic and personal growth. This role not only deepened her understanding of educational disparities but also fueled her resolve to effect change more directly.

Joining the 2009 Teach for America Cohort was a pivotal step in Karen's career. While teaching K-12 and specializing in Special Education, she pursued a Master’s degree in Behavioral and Learning Disabilities, equipping herself with the tools to support and uplift those most in need. Her journey in education continued in metro Atlanta, where after teaching for 7 years, she contributed to the foundation and leadership of a K-8 public charter school, serving first as a Founding Board Member and later as the Superintendent.

Parallel to her educational career, Karen ventured into the world of entrepreneurship. The challenge of starting and managing several business ventures taught her invaluable lessons in branding and marketing—skills that she not only applied to grow her own businesses but also used to help other entrepreneurs find their footing and flourish.

Identifi(ED) Consulting is the culmination of Karen's experiences—an enterprise born at the intersection of education and entrepreneurship. Her mission is to empower educational institutions to embrace and express their true identities, enhancing their impact on students and communities. At Identifi(ED), she leverages deep industry knowledge and marketing acumen to ensure that schools not only promise excellence but also deliver it authentically and effectively.

At Identifi(ED) Consulting, Karen is driven by the promise of educational equity and excellence for all students. She believes that every school can and should be a beacon of its community's values and aspirations. It is this belief that motivates her every day to help schools align their practices with their principles, ensuring that their impact is as profound as their intentions.
